~Spring has finally arrived~

I have finally put some Springtime items up in the house.  Every year it turns out a little different.  I usually add one or two new things into the mix of old.
Here is how the mantel turned out this time.

This little book page bunny is the newbie in the group.  I love his little cotton tail!
So easy to make, I will be doing a little tutorial on it soon.

~First Craft Night of 2014~

I hosted my first "Craft Night" a couple of weeks ago.  I decided to invite just 3 good friends over as my guinea pigs for this crafting idea.  We made fabric garlands/banners for Valentines Day.  I had already cut strips of all different types of fabric so we could experiment and let the creative juices flow...
I think they turned out great.  The only pictures of the finished product I got were of mine (go figure!)
I know the girls had lots of fun and we decided to definitely do it again.  I just have to decide what craft will be next.

Can't wait for our next "Craft Night" party ladies!!

A little flower pot...

I decided to try a little mod podge treatment on an old  terra cotta pot the other day and it turned out pretty cute!  I took a few pictures along the way.  It is sooo easy to do this transfer, don't be surprised if you see all of my pots outside turn into pots like this!

1st I painted the pot with a Martha Stewart paint in "Tailors Chalk".  I did this very quickly and not to neatly but I thought it didn't really matter, a plant will be in it, right?

Then I found a french graphic I liked on the "Graphics Fairy" blog and used a matte finish Mod Podge to adhere it to the pot

I let it dry overnight and then used a little water to peel off the paper and voila it turned out great!

I really like it even with some sand and a candle in it.

Try this technique it is really easy and looks great!

Do you love Numbers?

I love numbers.  I love the way they look, they are so graphic, especially in black and white.  Now don't get me wrong I don't love numbers like an accountant might love numbers, I just love the way they look.  Kind of goofy, huh?  So I saw this post from one of the blogs I am following called A Thoughtful Place and had to try this out.  I  bought some pillow covers from Ikea and got to work on my computer.  I figured out what font I wanted and then changed their size to "huge".  I printed them on cardstock and proceeded to cut them out.  I then traced them onto the pillow covers with a pencil.  I found that on the second pillow cover I could skip this step and immediately trace the number with a skinny sharpie.  Then I filled it in with a thick black sharpie (kind of stinkie)  and then used fabric paint and painted over the entire black area of the number.  I was very pleased with the end result and so easy peasy!

The inspiration: These were from Pottery Barn a long time ago...

These are the Ikea pillow covers...

My numbers ready to cut out...

The number "2" just finished painting...

Pillow number 2 done...

Pillow number 3 done...

And both pillows together...

I don't have any good reason why I did the numbers 2 & 3 other then I like the way these numbers look.
What do you think, are you a number person???

Spring Mantel...

It's beginning to look like Spring here in our house.  Unfortunately it isn't outside, we have had rain and horrible wind the last 2 days but that doesn't stop the Spring decorating that must go on inside the house.  I started with the mantel in the family room!

This was added in celebration of my husbands birthday!

What are you doing to get ready for SPRING?

~Cute Summertime Crafts~

I decided to try this adorable craft that I found on this blog.  Emily from Jones Design Company is fantastic with giving instructions on her crafts.
These were made with some cute paper I already had so all I purchased was the lollipop sticks.

Try making them with your kids, they are really fun!
