It's time to organize, organize, organize...

It's that time...  Springtime and with Springtime brings Spring cleaning!  So I thought I better get to it.  I made some great charts to help me with the organizational process.  The first one is a "Cleaning Calendar" probably the most important of all for me.  I really need to stay on task with this stuff.  The second one is a "Dinnertime" chart which is a planner for middle of the week dinners. I don't include weekend's because everybody should get the weekend off from cooking right? And I included an "events" line, so I know when we have a baseball game or cheer practice etc... I do dinner planning pretty religiously every week so I don't have to go to the grocery store a million times during the week.  What do you do to plan and more importantly how do you stay on task with all of your household chores?????

My charts are pretty impossible to read, sorry about that!
Hoping everybody has a fantastic weekend!
Wish me luck for the lotto, I need it!!!!!!

Do you love Numbers?

I love numbers.  I love the way they look, they are so graphic, especially in black and white.  Now don't get me wrong I don't love numbers like an accountant might love numbers, I just love the way they look.  Kind of goofy, huh?  So I saw this post from one of the blogs I am following called A Thoughtful Place and had to try this out.  I  bought some pillow covers from Ikea and got to work on my computer.  I figured out what font I wanted and then changed their size to "huge".  I printed them on cardstock and proceeded to cut them out.  I then traced them onto the pillow covers with a pencil.  I found that on the second pillow cover I could skip this step and immediately trace the number with a skinny sharpie.  Then I filled it in with a thick black sharpie (kind of stinkie)  and then used fabric paint and painted over the entire black area of the number.  I was very pleased with the end result and so easy peasy!

The inspiration: These were from Pottery Barn a long time ago...

These are the Ikea pillow covers...

My numbers ready to cut out...

The number "2" just finished painting...

Pillow number 2 done...

Pillow number 3 done...

And both pillows together...

I don't have any good reason why I did the numbers 2 & 3 other then I like the way these numbers look.
What do you think, are you a number person???

~Traveling Kids~

My kids are across the country visiting Washington D.C..this week.  They are on a trip with fellow 8th graders from their school. They are so lucky to be seeing some spectacular places.  Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, the Kennedy Center, Gettysburg, the Capitol, Smithsonian, all of the monuments, etc...  It is a fantastic trip, I am so jealous but so glad they could do this. Of course we have had some pitfalls.  Hannah has been homesick, Austin has been bus sick (not unusual) and banged his knee into something, he must have hurt it pretty bad the principal called to make sure we knew about it and it was ok to give him advil. Such a great experience they will never forget.  I am so thankful to my mom and dad for making this happen.  You are the best Grammy & Papa!!!
Here are some pics of the kids getting ready to be dropped off at the bus:

Austin never wants his picture taken

Better...

Hannah always loves her picture taken

Acting like they really like each other (they really do)!

Can't wait to hear all about it.

p.s. I miss them soo much!!!

Spring Mantel...

It's beginning to look like Spring here in our house.  Unfortunately it isn't outside, we have had rain and horrible wind the last 2 days but that doesn't stop the Spring decorating that must go on inside the house.  I started with the mantel in the family room!

This was added in celebration of my husbands birthday!

What are you doing to get ready for SPRING?
